ALL THE THINGS

Our INTEGRATED MARTIAL ARTS (IMA) curriculum embodies the school training philosophy; to mix the arts and training methods to make one complete system. IMA training consists of weaponry, empty hand, self-defense combatives, and kickboxing from  Kali, Jun Fan/JKD, Muay Thai, and MMA

GOOD 2 KNOW

Goal: continual attribute development and enhancement.
Benefit: multidimensional training; represents our JKD mixed martial arts lineage and philosophy.
Fitness/Experience Level: everyone welcome.
Good to Know: our IMA class is 90 min.

THE GROUND GAME

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU has become the most popular martial art in the world. Masters of the ground game, jiu-jitsu practitioners learn to use leverage over size and force to sweep, control, and submit their opponent. BJJ is fun and fully engaging of the mind and body. Learning and practicing jiu-jitsu is highly recommended to round out your self-defense system and is a big part of our JKD philosophy of mixed martial arts training.  Our lineage is of the Machado Brothers Jiu-jitsu through our head instructor, Brian Johnson, owner and head instructor at NWJJA in Seattle.

GOOD 2 KNOW

Goal: learn leverage and technique over size and speed.
Benefit: increased flexibility, endurance, falling skills, and the ability to defend yourself on the ground with any size of opponent. Patience and humility.
Fitness/Experience Level: everyone welcome.
Good to Know: BJJ will work an entirely different "mental muscle" than our other arts. It challenges students on a physical and mental level and it takes time and patience to get the feel of the techniques.

This is an "intimate" art - please be prepared to be in very close proximity to your partner!

MUAY THAI KICKBOXING

THE EIGHT LIMBS

MUAY THAI KICKBOXING, or Thaiboxing, has become  hugely popular all over the world. The devastating kicks, knees, punches, and elbows that Muay Thai is famous for not only grants the practitioner a solid form of self-defense, but also packs a walloping workout! Burning 500 - 800 calories in a 1 hour class is the norm!

GOOD 2 KNOW

Goal: develop powerful striking using the eight limbs.
Benefit: strength, power, and endurance. Stress relief; sense of empowerment; build confidence; significantly increase your cardio and conditioning.
Fitness/Experience Level: everyone welcome.
Good to Know: this is not a "kick the bag" class. Our class begins with an individual warm up; however, partner work is emphasized throughout the hour. You'll be working with focus mitts and Thai pads; partners trade off holding and striking.
