IMPORTANT UPDATE

Effective March 2021, our Juniors, and Seniors program is CLOSED to new students.

We no longer offer a Little Dragons program and our minimum age has changed to 7 years old.

Unfortunately, we don't anticipate openings in our youth program anytime soon . When we do, we'll send out an email announcement. Potential new students must observe class (by appointment only) and then go through a 12-week evaluation process. Not every student is invited into our regular program.

Please check our website, follow our Instagram for announcements, or message us to be added to our waiting list.

Thank you!

Seniors/Teens

Ages 11-15
The Seniors (teens) train a bit more like adults. They are given more responsibility with each other and are asked to learn adult curriculum. Seniors earn belts and wear uniforms and use martial arts equipment during their training. Seniors learn an excellent combination of Kickboxing, conditioning and self-defense.

*Students 16 years old and above should join our Adults program. Students can also mix Adult classes with Youth classes when approved.
Effective March 2021, we are not accepting new students into our Seniors/Teens program. Please message us if you'd like to be added to the wait list.

The
Class

Learning adult curriculum in a teens class...
At this level in the program, students learn adult curriculum and are expected to take more responsibility for their training. Every student is required to sign in on the tablet before class and have their equipment and water bottle ready. They must also wear their full uniform to class. Jewelry, hats, perfume or cologne, and other accessories are not allowed.

Class begins with students lining up in the seated position on the mat. Seniors work with partners and train in Kali, Jun Fan, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. For more advanced students, sparring is available when a student has reached the rank of yellow belt and has instructor approval.

What is the student to teacher ratio? We usually have 1-3 instructors available, depending on overall class size. Our class size ranges from 10 - 20 students.

Sparring

Our teen students must be a yellow belt and have the approval of Sifu Bob and Si Hing Anthony to participate in our sparring class on Mondays from 5:50pm-6:15pm. There is no additional cost for this specialized training; however, students must purchase additional equipment.

 Salutation
of Respect

New Level of Respect...
Our Seniors/Teens are expected to uphold our school mission. Rather than reciting a salutation like our Little Dragons and Juniors, our teens focus on being representatives of our School Mission  and showing the proper signs of respect during their training using gestures specific to the art they're learning.

Showing respect to fellow students, instructors and staff is important; including having a positive and open attitude and being a good student: focused, present and aware.

What do the kids call the instructors? Students should address the Head Instructor as "Sifu Bob." Assistant male instructors are called "Si Hing _____" and female instructors are called "Si Jay _____."

School
Mission

"OUR ROLE AS A MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL IS TO HAVE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON OUR COMMUNITY.  TO BE PEACEFUL AND HUMBLE STUDENTS OF THE MARTIAL ARTS AND OF LIFE. TO HAVE FUN AND WORK HARD. TO TAKE CARE OF OUR FELLOW STUDENTS AND OUR NEIGHBORS. TO BE OPEN-MINDED TO OTHER STYLES, SYSTEMS, CULTURES, AND METHODS. TO PURSUE SELF-MASTERY AND ABOVE ALL, HUMILITY."

Did you Know?

Your teen is learning the Inosanto JKD (Jeet Kune Do) style of mixed martial arts. We train in multiple disciplines so that we're always evolving and adapting our martial arts practice; including our body, mind and spirit, to meet life with a peaceful positive attitude and a sense of strength through self-discipline and humility.

Real
Tools for
Real Training

Sticks, gloves, traditional gi, and sparring gear...
Our Seniors learn our adult JKD mixed martial arts curriculum. They use escrima sticks and daggers for weaponry work under our Kali (Filipino martial arts) system and use Thai pads and focus mitts to learn different styles of kickboxing (Muay Thai, Jun Fan, Savate) while training with partners in class.

Approved sparring students purchase additional gear: head protection, shin guards, gloves, and mouth guards.

Students are responsible for caring for their uniform and equipment by keeping them clean and using them with respect at all times..

Earning
Rank

Attitude, technique and being a good student matter...
Our Seniors are tested and ranked by belt throughout the year. They must consistently demonstrate the attributes of a good student: a humble, respectful and helpful attitude and technical skill, knowledge and proficiency in the arts they're learning!
We give out new belts at the end of class or during one of our belt promotion ceremonies.
