The Practices
What we train. What it builds. What changes
Every practice at SIMA is a different entry point into the same outcome; a calmer nervous system, a more capable body, and the kind of mental clarity that transfers to every area of your life.
Some people start with one class and stay with it for years. Others move across disciplines and find that each one deepens the others. There is no wrong door.
All classes are included in your SIMA Membership. All levels welcome in every class.
Filipino Kali
The art of movement and the practice that rewires how you think under pressure.
Kali is one of the most complete martial arts in the world. The name itself tells you what it is; kamut (hand) and lihot (motion)… the art of moving the body with intelligence and intention. Where most martial arts specialize, Kali integrates: weapons, empty hand striking, kicking, takedowns, and tactical awareness across twelve distinct areas of study. What you build here isn’t a single skill. It’s a complete physical and mental vocabulary.
Every drill in Kali is designed to do two things simultaneously; develop the body and sharpen the mind. Double stick work builds coordination and dexterity while activating neuroplasticity, your brain is literally building new pathways as you train. Empty hand sensitivity drills develop the kind of tactile awareness and calm responsiveness that transfers directly to how you handle pressure in everyday life. Kickboxing elements build cardiovascular endurance and physical confidence. The result, over time, is a practitioner who moves differently, thinks differently, and responds to stress differently… on the mat and off it.
Our Kali lineage comes from Guro Dan Inosanto, one of the most respected martial artists in the world. Training methods draw from Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, Savate, and Boxing, making each class a genuinely integrated experience rather than a narrow curriculum.
Muay Thai
Combos & Conditioning
The workout that builds something beyond fitness.
Muay Thai is known as the art of eight limbs; fists, elbows, knees, and kicks working together as a complete striking system. The Combos & Conditioning class is where that system gets built from the ground up. Every round develops real technique alongside genuine cardiovascular fitness, not one at the expense of the other.
This class is the natural starting point for anyone new to striking arts. You work at your own pace, develop fundamental skills through repetition and partner work, and leave every session having pushed your body in a way that a standard gym workout simply doesn’t replicate.
The combination of focused attention, physical exertion, and progressive skill development produces something that carries beyond the mat… a quieter mind, a more capable body, and the particular kind of confidence that comes from learning to use yourself well.
Muay Thai
Technique & Sparring
Where the practice becomes real.
This class is for students who are ready to take their Muay Thai further. Technique & Sparring goes deeper into the skills, strategies, and tactical thinking that make striking arts genuinely effective, and genuinely transformative as a practice.
Sparring at SIMA is structured to develop the student, not test them. The goal isn’t winning, it’s learning to stay calm, think clearly, and respond with precision when there’s another person in front of you. That capacity, to remain composed under real pressure is one of the most transferable things this practice builds. Students who spar regularly report changes that extend well beyond the gym: better stress response, sharper decision-making, and a groundedness that people around them notice.
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
Physical chess. Mental clarity. The practice that teaches you to think under pressure.
People call BJJ physical chess, and that’s exactly right. It’s a ground-based grappling art built entirely on technique, leverage, and problem-solving. Size and strength matter far less here than timing, positioning, and the ability to stay calm and think clearly when someone is actively trying to control you. That last part is what makes BJJ uniquely valuable beyond the mat.
Every roll in BJJ is a live problem to solve. The mind has to stay present, adaptive, and unflappable, there’s no room for panic or rigid thinking. Students who train consistently find that this capacity transfers directly into how they handle pressure in work and life. The body learns to relax under stress. The mind learns to find clarity in chaos. It’s one of the most honest and effective practices for building the kind of grounded composure that most adults want and very few find in a standard gym.
All levels welcome. The Sunday morning class has become one of the most tightly-knit communities in the SIMA family… serious practitioners who genuinely enjoy working with people at the beginning of the path.
Impact 45
Forty-five minutes. Full body. Nothing wasted.
Impact 45 is a 45-minute kickboxing-based training system built for people who want a complete physical workout without spending two hours doing it. Bag work, cardio, core strength, balance, and mobility, structured and sequenced to hit your whole body hard and efficiently.
What separates Impact 45 from a standard fitness class is the foundation underneath it. Every movement comes from real martial arts principles, which means you’re not just burning calories, you’re building coordination, timing, and physical confidence alongside your fitness. Students who come in looking for a workout often find something they didn’t expect: a practice that sharpens focus, releases accumulated stress, and leaves them feeling genuinely reset rather than just tired.
Forty-five minutes. All levels. No experience required. One of the most effective stress-relief tools on the schedule.
